What we're seeing
At Butte County Special Education, chronic absenteeism has been essentially flat over the 5-year window — from 0.0% in 2017 to 66.7% in 2024. Despite that, the gap vs US average of ~28% has actually widened — from 28.0% above in 2017 to 38.7% above in 2024.
